Meet our People

Joseph McGullagh - Power System Engineer

I currently have a number of tasks, my main task is to carry out an MPS study. There's a new substation going to be connected which will result in MPS voltages on the network, and my job is to model that, calculate the code and ensure it's within grid limits.

The atmosphere in our office is one of a relaxed atmosphere but at the same time a 'let's get the work done' attitude. People are understanding of other workloads that you may have and people appreciate that you have deadlines to meet. I would say it's a relaxed atmosphere but nonetheless let's get the work done.

My colleagues in the quality of supply team where I work are very professional, very approachable and they're very keen for me to develop as an engineer which is why I love working in the quality of supply team so much.

I think a National Grid person is someone who can work in a team, that's vitally important, someone who can listen to other people's views and opinions and take them on board, and someone who can respect other people's opinions. Yes, I believe someone that can work in a team is crucial to having a successful career here at National Grid.
