Meet our People

Dominic Hewett - Senior Finance Analyst, Electricity Incentives

I think National Grid 's a good company to work for, I think one of the best things about National Grid is that it offers an opportunity to develop a varied career but enjoying loyalty to one organisation. The main reason for that, particularly in finance, is that we have a large finance function with a number of different finance teams looking at different areas of the business. So you can stay loyal and commit to a career with National Grid, but that can be a varied career involving different aspects of our business.

The atmosphere at National Grid is a nice balance, there's a very professional atmosphere - we're here to do a job, to meet objectives and ensure the company's going in the right direction - but I think there's also a nice culture of getting on, a very good team spirit, we do regular away days and quite often there are social events that are organised by different parts of the team. And we try and involve everyone who wants to be involved in these types of things. So it's very much a family environment in lots of ways and a nice balance between getting the job done and making sure you're enjoying it along the way.

If a friend of mine was thinking of applying to National Grid my immediate response would be 'go for it.' I think National Grid's a genuinely good organisation to work for. I think it offers a long term career in a very quickly changing world - particularly from a finance point of view I think it's one of the few remaining organisations that can offer a long term and varied finance career so generally I'd just be very enthusiastic about a friend of mine joining National Grid.

I like working for National Grid because I believe it's a very strong organisation, it's very well organised and very focused on its business model. I think it has to be because we're regulated by Ofgem. I think we're also a very successful company - we're very good at what we do - simple as that.
