Transmission

National Grid plays a vital role in delivering gas and electricity to many millions of people across Great Britain and the Northeast US. Working to meet the challenging targets of the EU 2020 Plan, we're taking a leading role in shaping the energy landscape.

Continually improving and embracing change, Construction are an increasingly integral part of the organisation.

UK Construction is the division of National Grid that brings together all of the major digging, tunnelling and excavating work such as laying gas pipelines and electricity transmission lines across the British countryside. As a single directorate working across both gas and electricity networks to suit the needs of the business, we can offer you the opportunity to grow your experience within both areas on a range of projects.

National Grid's response to the nation's 2020 carbon reduction programme has seen a major investment in new forms of traditional generation and renewable sources. And so the UK energy landscape is changing, and increasing our responsibility - and workload - to build and enhance the transmission infrastructure whilst respecting both heritage and the implications of the new Planning Act.

As well as maintaining the safety and reliability of the existing gas and electricity systems and processes, we work towards zero injuries and zero environmental impact at all times. Continually improving and embracing change, we're becoming an increasingly integral part of the organisation. Working closely with internal directorates such as Asset Management and Network Operations, and external stakeholders, we pride ourselves on being good to work with - delivering value for money and quality work, on time, on budget and to lasting benefit. We also take pride in being a good place to work, attracting, developing and training a diverse range of people with different backgrounds and experience levels.
